Fort York is where the birth of Toronto (formerly York) happened in 1793. Designated as a National Historic Site of Canada in 1923, The Fort is open year round for tours and in the summer months there are a number of activities open to the public. Toronto condo developers have, in recent years started paying attention to the former industrial lands in this downtown neighbourhood bringing with them exciting architecture and improvements like restaurants, cafes and stores that previously hadn’t been available. There are a number of new condos planned for completion over the next few years and they will no doubt bring more exciting things with them. One of the most iconic loft conversions in the city is located in Fort York, who can say they have never noticed the Tip Top sign from the Gardiner Expressway?

There are quite a few restaurants to choose from. Some good places to grab a bite are Fort York Pizzeria and Subway. Venture a little further for a meal at Sansotei Ramen, Heart Clean Eats or The Arepa Republic. If you love coffee, you're not too far from Tim Hortons located at 2 Bruyeres Mews. Groceries can be found at Healthy Island Food Store which is a short distance away and you'll find Bloom Pharmacy a 5-minute walk as well. Fort York: Garrison Common and Victoria Memorial Square are both in close proximity and can be a great way to spend some down time. You are a short distance away from great parks like Coronation Park, Little Norway park and Canoe Landing Park.

Without a car, you can get around rather easily. The closest transit stop is a Light RailStop (FLEET ST AT BASTION ST WEST SIDE) and is only steps away, but there is also a Subway stop, ST ANDREW STATION - SOUTHBOUND PLATFORM, a 20-minute walk connecting you to the TTC. It also has (Light Rail) route 509 Harbourfront, and (Light Rail) route 511 Bathurst nearby. For drivers, the closest highway is Gardiner Expressway and is within a 4-minute drive, making it easier to get into and out of the city getting on and off at Rees St.
